Over Matthew

I am Matthew Paauw a 22-year old bachelor student living in Barendrecht. Currently in my second year of ASTP and my third year of my Chemistry bachelor's at the Rotterdam university of applied sciences. My hobbies are reading and playing games. I achieved my propaedeutics in my first year at my university.

I had the opportunity to join the COAST program. This looked like a great opportunity for me to gain knowledge in analytical chemistry which I developed a real interest in after doing an internship at Veolia’s technology centre at Delft. My greatest interest in chemistry is water-based chemistry. Previous experience
As previously stated in my personal profile I have some experience with internships. My MBO (vocational school) internship was at Veolia’s technology center in Delft where I learned a lot about how someone should function in a laboratory. It also cultivated my interest in learning more about certain aspects of chemistry, things like wastewater and carcinogens, and how to remove said carcinogens from water.

During my bachelor’s degree, I also did an internship at CarbonX B.V. in Delft. During this internship, I learned a lot about physical chemistry mainly about rubber. The analytical part of this internship was very interesting for me because I had never experienced analysing solid materials before without diluting them in some way.

“Matthew did a very good job. In addition, he fit well into the group with his enthusiastic and cheerful attitude.”
- Internship supervisor Mees Trouwborst, senior development application engineer CarbonX B.V.
