ANAC PhD Education Program

Courses for PhD students 

In order to facilitate retention of top-quality people in analytical-science jobs COAST’s L3 program offers courses for continuous education.

anac phd education programThe COAST ANAC education program offers courses for PhD students who want to broaden or deepen their knowledge in analytical science techniques. The courses are also suitable for analytical specialist from industry who wish to maintain or increase their knowledge of techniques and applications. ANAC courses are offered throughout the year, as summer courses or as a one -or two-day topical courses on weekdays and/or Saturdays.

Courses may be part of the ASTP-program, the MSc+ program or specifically aimed at PhD-students.

We offer ANAC courses at different levels:

  • BASIC to stimulate a broader perspective
  • ADVANCED to stimulate a fundamental approach
  • SKILLS to stimulate personal development Lecturers are national and international experts from academia and the industry.

There is a fee for attending ANAC courses, but all COAST partners and all PhD students receive a 50% discount. PhD students affiliated with a group that participates in COAST receive a 75% discount.

Analytical Sciences Talent Program

Do you want to gain more knowledge on analytical chemistry during your HLO education? Are you a talented first-year student and do you want to get to know the most prestigious companies? Then the Analytical Sciences Talent Program is for you!

You will follow this three-year program alongside your present HLO studies. During each of the three years you will interact intensively with the leading companies and research institutes that form COAST. You will have the opportunity to work in the most advanced laboratories and to participate in innovative research. You will also attend lectures during the summer (late August, one per year) and on Saturdays (approx. 1 Saturday per month) presented by leading experts from academia and industry from all over the Netherlands.


The Analytical Sciences Talent Program (ASTP) has been instigated by industrial leaders. Employers are in great need of analysts with the knowledge and experience that we provide. The ASTP gives you intensive exposure to the best current practices and the latest technologies. The ASTP gives you outstanding career prospects. As a testimony of your unique knowledge and experience you will be awarded a COAST certificate upon completing the Analytical Sciences Talent Program.

In addition to the extra education, the ASTP student will obtain a COAST grant.


The Analytical Sciences Talent Program is organized by a collaborative effort of HAN University of Applied Sciences and COAST. The start of the program was sponsored by Provincie Gelderland.


In 2019, a maximum of 25 students will be admitted to the Talent Program. Application will be open until the end of MayRepresentatives of HAN, COAST and participating companies will select applicants on the basis of the submitted documents. A limited number of candidates will be invited for an interview, which will be conducted in English. Interviews will take place in June 2020. The kick-off will always be during the summer course, which will take place 17-21 August 2020
