We are looking for and enthusiastic student who wants to engage in a four-year trajectory as a PhD candidate in our Laboratory of BioNanoTechnology. Open mind and creative thinking are prerequisites to step into this multidisciplinary research project that concerns the design and fabrication of innovative NMR probes with integrated micro coil antennas that will be exploited for the characterization of minor components in bulk processes. The project is part of a bigger COAST-funded project and runs in parallel with one at the Leiden University and extensive collaboration is expected to result in hyphenating the devices constructed in the different sites. The project is focussed on technology development and comprises extensive collaboration with industrial partners and a user committee.

We ask: 

For this position we request an MSc degree in Chemistry or Chemical Technology, or physics or engineering if appropriate background education in chemistry and/or NMR spectroscopy.

We offer: 

We offer you a temporary position for a period of 1.5 years with extension of 2.5 years after successful evaluation. Gross salary per month €2.222,-  in the first year rising up to €2.840,-per month in the fourth year. We not only offer a competitive salary but also good (study) leave and a pension of the ABP Pension Fund.

We are the Laboratory of BioNanoTechnology, BioNT, a young chair group of Wageningen University, which is an active and internationally oriented group of researchers (1 full prof, 4 staff members, 9 PhD students, 10-15 BSc/MSc students) with the ambition to double in size in the coming years. RIKILT is looking for Higher professional education (HBO) researchers with a chemical background!


RIKILT Wageningen University & Research is on the lookout for independent HBO researchers with research experience in one of more of the following fields of activity: process contaminants, organic/inorganic contaminants, pesticides and toxins, animal medicines and growth-promoting agents, the composition of foodstuffs (fraud) and biological samples. Besides conducting analyses, HBO researchers develop or optimise analytical methods, focusing on instrumental analyses using state-of-the-art measurement systems in the field of LC-(HR)MS, GC-(HR)MS and ICP-MS. The use of scanners and drones for measuring in the field is also on the increase. The analysis and research results are used in RIKILT reports and scientific publications.

They are looking for HBO researchers with:
  • analytical-chemical training at HBO level and some experience with analysing contaminants/residues, or with one of the other fields of activity mentioned;
  • experience in one or more of the said MS systems, with instrumental analyses and with samplepreparation techniques;
  • an independent and proactive attitude to work and an enthusiastic and results-focused personality with a quality-conscious attitude.
  • experience working within an ISO17025-accredited laboratory.

    You should also be a real team player who is meticulous, flexible and customer-focused.
